Little Red River - (Updated 10-15-2013) Lindsey’s Resort (501-302-3139) said the water is clear and one to one-and-a-half generators are running, beginning at 4 p.m. Trout fishing is outstanding. In the mornings, the trout are hitting anything presented to them like crazy.
(Updated 11-06-2013) Lowell Myers of Sore Lip ’em All Guide Service said the Greer’s Ferry tailwater is experiencing no or sporadic water release on the Little Red. This is creating low water conditions along all sections of the river, resulting in good wading and poor boat drifting conditions. For fly fishermen, BWO’s, egg patterns, midges, midge pupas, soft hackles, small wooly buggers and small sow bugs are working well. Those using Trout Magnets are “twitching” (using it without a float) the Magnets in the low-water conditions. Colors working well are hot pink and chartreuse. We are seeing some brown trout activity in some of the shoals, so please be aware of their redds (spawning beds) while wading.

White and hybrid bass are eating it up most days. The warm front pushed them deeper (out to 53 feet), some are on top at times and the rest can be caught from 35-53 feet on in-line spinners, spoons and small swimbaits. Bream have moved back shallow and can be caught on crawlers. Crappie are eating in the pole timber 12-18 feet deep on minnows and jigs. Catfish are still biting well on a variety of baits. Walleye are very scattered and hard to pinpoint; try dragging crawlers in 18- 53 feet of water. Bass fishing is slow; the water is low with dissolved oxygen, which has been a problem, but the bite will pick up soon, try drop shots, Carolina rigs, topwater baits, spinnerbaits from 6 inches out to 53 feet of water.

Shad are in inches of water early and the fish are close by, follow them off the bank as they move and you can stay with them all day.
