FALCON LURES

Product Review

Lafayette, Louisiana is located in the heart of Cajun country. A Cajun is a resourceful, French immigrant that thrived on the abundant wildlife of the Louisiana swamps and marshes. Wayne Falcon, who has been designing lures since 1975, incorporates Cajun ingenuity into the company’s line of fishing products.

Falcon Lure Company line of fishing products include Big Eyez Buzzbaits, Big Eyez Spinnerbaits, “K” Wacky Hooks®, Bait-jerker Hooks™, Flipping Tube Jighead, and Rattling Flipping Jigs. From top to bottom, Falcon Lures has a product for your fishing needs. With hooks for special techniques like wacky worm and soft jerk baits, the company can teach any old Cajun a new trick or two.

One product that has worked well for me with bass and some of those mean Louisiana redfish is the Bait-Jerker Hook™. This wide gap hook is great for soft plastic jerk baits. With various hooks sizes and weights, a size is available for small finesse baits and large bulky baits. The hooks are at home with Senkos, jerk baits, and other soft plastics. It comes in two models; one for monofilament and the other for super lines like Spiderwire™.
Everybody in Louisiana love to eat crawfish. Since bass love the tasty critters, try rigging a crawfish with the Bait-Jerker Hook™. The weight’s position on the hook gives the crawfish or other plastic the correct presentation on the fall. The natural and seductive fall of appropriately rigged bait produces more strike. The wide gap hook increases the hook up ratio, too.

The “K” Wacky Worm® hook is another great product for the soft plastic angler. Many may argue about the origination of the wacky style of fishing, but few will argue about the “K” Wacky Hook® being a winner. Weightless and weighted models are available from Falcon Lures.

The Big Eyez series of spinnerbaits and buzzbaits are great lures, too. With all the premier colors and blade combinations, there is sure to be one that matches your needs. The buzzbait has 3D eyes and a keeled head. The unique head style causes the lure to lift to the surface quickly and run through some of the toughest cover on the bayou. Whether it is weeds or other cover, the Big Eyez series handle anything the bayou can dish out.

If you love to flip tubes, the Flipping Tube Jighead by Falcon is for you. This bad boy is great for any style and size of tube baits. The weed guard and strong hook let the angler place the tube in the nastiest cover on the water. Just cut a small hole in the tube and slide the head in place. It is that easy.

The last Falcon Lures ‘s product I reviewed was the Rattling Jig. The jig has a XXS Mustad Ultrapoint hook as the foundation. The distinctive head design will slide though cover from grass to treetops. Choose a metal flake or chrome scale version for your specific needs. With several sizes available to choose from, the company has a great choice in color and weights.
