SUSPENDING LURE
by Wayne Jb
One of my most favorite types of fishin is using a
supending type lure. I don’t know why but fish seem to fight more when
they are caught suspending. In this article you will learn some tips
and tactics on fishing these awsome fighters. But first, lets say your
fishin and you can’t get a bite what so ever. You tried every single
lure in your tackle box such as topwater plugs, jigs, grubs etc and
you don’t know what to do! Well this article is for you !
First of all to make fishing succesful you have to
know where the fish are. I use polorized glasses such as the strike
king’s or the rapala’s. Using glasses helps to cut down the glare on
the water making it easyer for you to see any fish that are suspended
in the water. Especialy on sunny days when the sun is very bright.
When the fish are suspended I usally use the Rapala
husky jerk or the Storm suspending thunder stick. Ive tried avery size
and color and
I found out that the huskey jerk works best in the large size in the
clown color. The thunder stick is sold in one size but in many colors.
Try to buy one with many bright colors as possible. Suspending baits
are unique because of its suspending action. When a lure suspends it
stays in the ¨STRIKE ZONE¨ longer than any other floating or sinking
lure. What’s the strike zone? The stike zone is the zone where the
fish will strike. Let’s say a fish is following a sinking or a floating
lure and you pause it for a couple of seconds, the bait will either
flutter to the top or sink to the bottom making the fish miss italmost
every time! But if your using a supending lure, it will give fish the
time to strike it. There are many ways to use a suspending lure. (Believe
me I’ve tried them all!) But I found a way that will make the fish
more active.
I like to cast the lure out and jerk it once and pause
it for about 5 seconds. After that I jerk it twice and pause for an
other 5 seconds. I repeat this method till I am finished reeling it
in. When the fish will strike it will feel as if you caught some weeds
or a log. They will usally strike during the pause. (strike zone.)
Bring in the fish slowly because the fish aren’t always properly hooked
all the time. Here’s a extra tip- I like to put some sent at the back
end of my lure because if a fish is following, it will strike it for
sure!
Fishing for suspending fish helped me catch some of
my biggest fish and I know that this method will catch yours too. Remember
to
practise catch-and-release for the kids of tommorow!
Tight lines
and god bless,
Your fishin bud,
