Hey, did you see
the size of that bass cruising the weed edge? Right over there, practically
in front of you. Oh, now he’s gone into the weeds…
Has this happened
to you? Your buddy sees a really nice fish, yet you can’t find it?
It seems those “fish catching” polarized glasses you bought aren’t
as good as you hoped - you still see glare off the water, and your
eyes are really tired at the end of the day.
Pick up your fishing
sunglasses and stand with them under a fluorescent light. Now just
rotate them back and forth. Does the image of the light bulb look
distorted, bent? That’s a sign of poor quality optics, which you may
notice in the form of eye strain or headaches. Or maybe your eyes just
feel better
with your sunglasses off.
An investment in
higher-quality polarized sunglasses not only helps you see things under
water, it can provide long-term protection for your eyes - from things
like cataracts that can be caused by UV rays.
I have tried a lot
of different sunglasses over the years, and have found Maui
Jim to be the best. They have the patented
Polarized Plus® technology to protect your eyes
from bounce back glare in addition to direct and reflective glare
protection. If you can see your eyelashes in the lenses, that’s bounce
back glare! They also provide UV protection. For the style conscious,
Maui Jim
offers over 40 different styles/sizes, allowing individual customers
to find the size and style that fits them best. After all, not all
faces are made the same.
I really like the Maui
Jim Sport series, with their nine-layer polycarbonate
lens. While being reasonably priced, they are also fairly lightweight
and come in four different styles (Rocky Point and Sunset are
my two favorites) and two different lens shades - Maui Rose® (which
is great for low-light or foggy conditions) and grey.
If you really want
lightweight eye protection, check out the ultra-lightweight
Maui Jim® Titanium Sport® sunglasses that weigh just 11
grams! I have a pair of the Ka'anapali’s and I almost forget I have
them on!
Maui Jim also offers
lightweight glass lenses, and prescription lenses are available in
some styles.
Bottom line, you
should see what you’re missing - while protecting your eyes from long-term
damage. You’ll be glad you did.
