It was a beautiful morning. The anticipation was there like it used to
be the morning of a tournament when you feel you have as good of a chance
as anyone to win it all.
You are sitting on your spot at 5:45 for that
early squatters right all of us fisherman have. All of a sudden out
of nowhere another boat from behind the dock approaches. Can this be?
We can't
cast until 6:30 and the cove is basically empty..
It's now 6:15 and
the other boat is 20 yards from you. 6:30 and now you're ready to
cast and
you guessed it his buzzbait fly's right in front of your weedline.
!@#%@%%!@$.
For a second you think you are in the twilight zone.
You ask yourself if
maybe you're on candid camera or not. You say something to the
effect that it's a big cove. You ask was there any particular reason
this
person had
to come right on top of you. He says you don't own the lake and
he can fish where he wants.
Now *!@#$%* off, you pull up and go elsewhere.
Go
to a ridge and mark a deep-water point with precision that
not even
the best GPS on the market can compete with. All the time others
watching how
you do it. 22 feet of water with a group of stumps. Ahh,
this should do it. BAM! slot fish here, slot fish there. All of the
sudden
2
boats show
up out of nowhere and here we are again.
Let's go to a tank
dam, none knows about you think. Fish you can weigh and fish you
can't. Here comes a bassbuster
with a cat fisherman. Surely he can't be coming over here.
After
a few seconds of tentative motions sure enough he throws
his anchor right on
top of the tank dam.
Time to go to the ramp and weigh the
one legal fish you have a chance to place with. Lanes are wide
enough for you
going in
and someone coming out. You fall off of plane and are
idling in when all the sudden here comes the guy who is going to beat
you
to
the ramp
at all
costs and he almost runs over your boat with his wake.
What the heck are the tournaments turning into? This story is true.
Any
names
used
are fictitious
and were changed to protect the innocent! Probably
stepping out on a limb but there's no shame in my game.
Good luck and
Good
fishing.
