Rig Ready Box for Bass

Fishing for bass with all the baits in a boat or a tackle box will make for lots of distractions. What color? What size? Soft baits or hard baits? Bright baits or clear baits? Which baits can you use and which baits are you not familiar with? Here is a solution.

Take one flat Bass Pro Shops tackle box and make 6 or 8 compartments inside the box. Now here are the baits to put in the box. Always have some white and green Zoom Trick worms and a few 2/0 Owner offset hooks. Use these same hooks in a Zoom U tail worm June bug. Add some 3/16 and 1/4 ounce bullet sinkers for the Texas rig. Put some small plastic beads in the box to add the Texas rig. Put four Rat L Traps in the box, two 3/8 ounce and two 1/2 ounce and mix up each color. Add two #5 and two #7 Shad Raps in shad, blue back and fire tiger.

Add two Pop R's top water baits along with two Spittin Image lures. These colors should be shad or bream patterns. Always have a Bang A Lure or a # 7 Rapala, one black with a silver side and one with a gold side and black back. Carolina rigs require beads, swivels, 3/4 ounce lead sinkers and the same 2/0 Owner offset hook. The Carolina rig is easy to fish with but remember that all you feel is the heavy sinker. The Super Fluke by the Zoom bait company comes in several colors. Pick baby bass and all white. Add some Venom glass rattles to the tackle and insert them inside any of the soft plastics including the Super Fluke. The finesse worms from Zoom make great lures for spots and largemouth. But use a small Charlie Brewer Spider Head jig in the 1/4 ounce size. Anything green will work. Spike It makes several colors of their marking pens and these pens are loaded with garlic. Paint the soft baits by adding red spots, black lines bright tails and heads and let your imagination run wild with the pens. Some of these soft lures do not come in all colors and adding color and scent is a bonus.

Jigs and soft plastic trailers work very well for bass all year. Carry three colors of jigs, pumpkinseed, black and brown. Add either a Zoom soft plastic frog trailer or add the Uncle Josh pork in matching or contrasting colors. Now look in the box. This box has almost every size, style and type of baits for bass, either spotted bass, largemouth bass or small mouth bass.
