Lake Evergreen / Bloomington
Both Lake Bloomington and Evergreen are at there highest levels in years.
Both are running a respective 6-8" over the spillways but fishing still
remains hot. Most bass are still shallow but many have moved into post-spawn
and are holding near spawning areas in 8-12 feet of water. Suspending Lucky
Craft Pointers 100 and 78's seem to be the hot baits and some fish are being
caught on Carolina rigs on 3/4 to 1 oz weights with a 2-3 foot leader and
watermelon Gambler Bacon-bits or Bacon Frys are picking up these fish. Slow
methodical retreives seem to working the best. Water color is stained in the
upper ends and clear near each of the respective dams. Spinnerbait and
flipping fish seem to still be in the creeks in the flooded grass. Scents
like BANG Garlic are helping during the muddy conditions and those fish
caught shallow have been caught on tandem willow Pro-Series Gambler
spinnerbaits and a myriad of "cosmic" colored trick worms.....Zoom and
Gambler seem to be the best choices. Several anglers are beginning to catch
fish on the Gene Larew Ring Tube and Hoo Daddy....watermelon or pumpkin with
Chartruese dip it........Remember....Post Spawn can be a tough time of year
but if you find a group of fish stay with them and you can catch a boat load!
