Strike King Ocho
by P.J. Pahygiannis
Nothing has recently hit the soft Stickbait market
Since the Yamamato Senko, and now that can no longer be said, because now the
Strike King Ocho has taken the Yamamato senko’s Place in the Soft Plastics market.
First
off let me say that the Strike King Ocho is deadly on Spawning
Bass, because if you leave it in the nest long enough the bass
will get agitated with it and carry it out of the nest, giving
you the chance to set the hook. I recently caught a 16 inch
Spawning bass with this tactic. The Ocho comes in two Sizes
a 5 inch and a 7 inch, and comes in 10 wonderful colors. The
Ocho is a good bait to fish in deep water because it shimmies
as it falls. But, When you are fishing it in deep water, you
need to watch your line very closely and if it moves off to
the Side, SET THE HOOK!
I like to
Texas rig the Ocho with a 1/0 hook and fish it weightless.
This lure is great around shallow water also and have caught
some really nice bass doing that. If I had to pick one color
to Fish the Ocho In, It would probably be Junebug. The Ocho
can imitate a dying bait fish falling down into deeper water
and many other things.. One thing that is very unique about
the Ocho is that it has eight sides and is chuck full of salt
and has coffee scent to help the fish hold on Longer. This
bait can be used in heavy grass and vegetation and can be flipped
into vegetation. Another deadly way to fish the Ocho I just
recently discovered is to Carolina Rig the Ocho. Also, If you
want to have even more intense action with the Ocho you can
fish it weighted, which will just make it fall faster, which
is even more enticing to bass.
Over all,
The Strike King Ocho is very Versatile and can be fished in
many different Situations and is great when the bass are deep.
Think again if you think this is just a piece of plastic, because
its a lot more than that, So don’t let your eyes fool
you. This is a Lure you don’t
want to move after you cast cast it out and let it do the rest.
Almost anyone can catch fish with the Strike King Ocho, from
the youngest to the oldest, this Lure can work magic for anyone.
If you want to Carolina rig this lure, use a short leader.
I like to fish the Strike King Ocho on 8-pound fluorocarbon,
but if you fish it in vegetation, use heavier line. The Ocho
can be fished on a dropshot or a Shaky head and should be fished
with a 2/0, 3/0, or 4/0 hook. And Advantage of using the strike
King Ocho is its price, The Yamamato senko costs $5.29, and
the Strike King Ocho costs $4.99. The Strike King Ocho has
very soft texture which makes it feel reel to the bass and
when you open the package you will notice the ocho has a Strong
Coffee scent. The glitter in the Ocho helps the sides of the
Ocho reflect light under water.
You can purchase the strike King Ocho at Bass Pro shops, Cabelas,
or any other Strike King dealer.
