Product Review – Bass Pro Shops - XPS® Nitro™ Square Bill Crankbaits
by: Tom Branch, Jr.

In this review, I am highlighting the properties of a new and exciting lure from Bass Pro Shops, the XPS Nitro Square Bill crankbait. The square-billed crankbait has become very popular bait after KVD's last Bassmaster Classic win in 2011.

The Bass Pro Shops-XPS Nitro Square Bill crankbait boasts a fat body style that creates a very good displacement in the water over the bill of the bait. Remember, the purpose of a square-shaped bill crankbait is that it deters snagging on stuff during the retrieve back to you. For those looking for a silent approach, the Bass Pro Shops - XPS Nitro Square Bill crankbait model possesses all the action and snag-resistance that comes standard on most square bill crankbaits, but with a quiet approach that makes a shallow-water bass a predator for this bait.

The Bass Pro Shops - XPS Nitro Square Bill crankbait will become a ticket to tournament success for you and any anglers who use it! These little devil burns in a wide wobble at 0'-5', depending on retrieve speed, so you can crawl it across the top as wake bait or rip it in a deadly arc over submerged weed beds. The square bill deflects off the cover consistently, better than any other crankbait on the market. The main color selection includes 12 hot colors, and you're in a win-win situation. Length: 2-1/2 inches, weight: 3/8 oz.

A few selected Prostaffer's with Bass Pro Shops have spent a considerable amount of time designing and fine tuning this bait. The XPS Nitro Square Bill crankbait needed to have the right erratic action with the wandering and searching motion that is needed to entice those shallow water bass in the spring.

I really have a good feeling about this crankbait and its cost-cutting price. I believe this bait will have some value to the bargain hunting fisherman, and it will catch some good-quality fish this spring!
