Everyone knows
that Florida is a very popular vacation destination because
there is so much to do and the weather is great in the
winter season. All
of the kids like to come to the land of Mickey Mouse and
all of the other theme parks. I would like to tell
you about a place that is about 40 miles away from all
of the hustle and bustle of the tourist attractions, this
place is where I live, Lake County Florida. This
county is located right in the middle part of the state
and even though development has increased dramatically
in the last ten years, it is still a great place to live
and work.
One
of the biggest attractions for us, the bass fisherman
is all of the available waters. There are 1,500 lakes
in our county, thus the name Lake County. There are lakes
the size of mud puddles and then there are the big lakes
such as the Harris Chain. The picture that is attached
to this article is of a 12 and a half pounder that was
caught from Lake Carlton which is part of the Harris
Chain of lakes in Leesburg, Florida. The Harris Chain
is full of big bass and offers the fisherman many different
ways to catch them from flipping to deep cranking.
Another
of the bigger bodies of water is the Clermont Chain
which is ten minutes from my home. Located right on the
banks of the town of Clermont, Florida this chain has
big and small lakes for fishing or just enjoying the
day on a boat ride. The Clermont Chain is very beautiful, full
of big cypress trees and many ospreys. The water
is very dark tannic color and when cruising up and
down the chain you can imagine what old Florida must
have been like. Bass fishing
on this chain can be good or you can have those days
when you think to yourself what did I do wrong? Either
way it is a beautiful place for you to enjoy.
North
Lake County is very rural and has many small lakes
that are full of bass and not over run with skiers and
wake boarders. One place is the
Holly Chain of lakes near the city of Umatilla. This
part of the county is very quiet and peaceful and is
a great place just to get away from it all and relax. The
city of Mount Dora is a great place to take the wife
if she is not into fishing, there are many antique
shops and places to browse.
As
you can see Lake County Florida has many things to keep
the whole family busy and is one of the best places to
be if you are a bass angler. We
do not get the attention of many of the other more well known
fishing areas of Florida but if you give it a try and want
a change of pace I know you will enjoy our county. If
you would like any information about Lake County, you
can give me a call at (352) 241-8092 or my cell at (352)

am a full time bass guide in this county, I offer trips
on the Clermont Chain, Harris Chain and John's lake
which is half in Lake County and half in Orange County. You
