Warriors on the Water Report
Event held on 04/19/08 on Jordon Lake
WOW what can I say? Another great event has come
and went. Ice Breaker was exceptional, with a lot of smiling faces
to be found. The pros showed up in force. Along with the founder
of Ranger Boats, Mr. Forest Wood himself graced the stage with
a few stories.
On Thurs I finally got out on Jordan with a good
friend of mine Janet Parker. Janet is a WBT Angler, and die hard
supporter of our military. She does a bunch along with her primary
sponsor Aaron's with the Wounded Warriors Program. She didn't get
to leave Texas until Wed, but drove all night to NC, then went
out on the water all day Thurs. She still had energy and enthusiasm
after a tough day on the lake.
You couldn't ask for better weather the day of
the tournament on Jordan Lake. We were graced with the all female
Golden Nights Team, jumping into bass boats. What a sight that
was, all 4 were dead on with their precision. It was something
I'll remember for the rest of my days. To see all the support and
boats, and just good fellowship all around was a sight to behold.
Now on to the fishing, well that wasn't so hot,
but still had a great time with my co angler a warrant officer
and helicopter pilot. We managed to weigh 2, missed 2 and caught
2 shorts.
I would like to personally thank everyone for their participation,
sponsorship and donations of this event.
To Joe and everyone at Secret Weapons Lures from
the people that bend the wire to the people that pack the boxes.
What can I say? Thanks for the great logo design, and hundreds
of dollars in lures. Thanks to Ron Stallings and the rest of the
great folks at TTI Blakemore Group. To the folks at Powers Swain,
who have been there since day one of the first WOW, thank you.
To the folks at Flying Fisherman who have also been there since
day one, thank you.
To Val and Vertical Lures, same thanks and appreciation
goes out to you'll. Vertical Lures also donated hundreds of dollars
worth of Jig-X's, tubes, and trailers. I sincerely hope to see
Vertical Lures as a sponsor for next year's event.
To Janet Parker, a person I am proud to call
a friend, thanks for all your hard work and dedication in support
of the military. Thanks for making the trip all the way from Little
Elm, Texas. I wish you the best of luck in the coming years with
the WBT Tour and all your endeavors.
